10 Days to a Healthier Life – Day 4

Follow along as I provide day-by-day updates during my ten-day case study.  I’m changing one simple daily habit, and letting readers learn first hand the impact it’s having on my life.

 Morning Habit

Day 4

This was the day I dreaded.  Readjusting to the 6:00 am wake-up and then having a full day of work was going to be a tough transition.  How do you think the day went?

It went great!  Yes, getting out of bed was more difficult than on previous days and it was pitch dark outside, but after a splash of agua on my face and a glass of lemon water, I was ready to go.  I spent the next 60 minutes meditating, writing, and practicing yoga.  I washed, showered, ate and was on my way to work.  And I felt awesome.  I had accomplished so much and my work day hadn’t even started yet!

Today’s Routine

No significant changes to my morning routine.  Meditation, affirmations and yoga.  I did focus a bit more on yoga today (about 40 min).

Wrap Up

I was definitely wiped out by dinner, but that just made it easier for me to hit the hay earlier than usual.  My energy level was relatively high for most of the day, and I was in a very positive frame of mind.  Things that may have aggravated me a few weeks ago seemed to be less important.

I do think getting to bed earlier is going to be an important part of my routine if I want to be successful in the long run. While I’m not normally up past midnight, I probably need to be asleep by 10:00 or 10:30 pm every night to ensure I’m getting enough shuteye. This will be a bit easier now that football season is almost over, but does require some discipline on my part!

Well, I survived my first day back to work.  Check back tomorrow as we hit the halfway mark!

Leave it to a boxer pic to bring me out of passive observation of your blog! The correlation between early rising and success is compelling. I’m glad you’re giving it a go. In my experience, the earlier I rise the more productive I am during my first hours in the office. I’ve fallen into a slump the past few months and am trying to readjust my schedule as well. Keep it up!

TJ. I love the engagement! I’ve never been much of an early bird, so this has been challenging at times. It’s pretty easy to fall into a slump, so I know how you feel. Let me know how it goes as you readjust your schedule.
